A strong drive to produce chamber music of the highest standard brought friends and colleagues together in the months preceding the pandemic to form the Indigo Ensemble. In those initial 5 pre pandemic months, members of the Indigo Ensemble collaborated in performances of various genres, from piano trios to piano quintets, string quartets, string duos and sonatas showcasing repertoire from the Baroque to works of living composers. Probing musicianship and technical security led to successful performances throughout the Chicagoland area, and with the recent return to live performances, members of the Indigo Ensemble are once again thrilled to share their renewed joy, passion and gratitude in making chamber music of the highest level with their audiences.
In our Epiphany Center concert, piano trios of Beethoven and Faure will be presented by Indigo Ensemble members Timothy Archbold, Yuriy Geyer and Jeffrey Panko.
Timothy Archbold is an Australian cellist currently playing with the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, Camerata Chicago, Skylight Theater, and as associate principal with the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra. He received his undergraduate degree in Music from the University of Melbourne, Australia then studied chamber music and cello performance in Germany for five years at the Hochschule fur Kunste in Bremen and European Chamber Music Academy in Hannover. He went on to receive his master’s degree in music from Wichita State University where he played with the Graduate String Quartet and the Wichita Symphony. In addition to his classical performing, Timothy has a large studio of private students and coaches honor chamber music ensembles with Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra and several area high schools. When not doing cello stuff, Timothy enjoys crossfit and spending time with his wife and 3 girls Eleanor, Lucy and Abigail.
Pianist Jeffrey Panko has been featured as a solo and collaborative performer in performances throughout the United States and Europe, winning top prizes in the Society of American Musicians’ Piano Competition (Chicago) and the Frinna Awerbuch International Piano Competition (New York). Performances of note include appearances at Carnegie Hall, Weill Hall, Lincoln Center Library, Symphony Center (Chicago), WQXR Radio (New York), WFMT Radio (Chicago) and Panko has received critical acclaim for recordings produced by the Albany and Innova labels. An Artist Faculty member of the New Music School piano faculty in Chicago, Panko also serves as Minister of Music and as Artistic Director of the Music at Bethel Concert Series for Bethel United Church of Christ in Elmhurst, Illinois.
Making his solo debut at the age of 10 with the Florida Symphony Orchestra, violinist Yuriy Geyer went on to receive numerous prestigious awards including first prizes at the Music Teachers National Association Violin competition, American String Teachers Violin national violin competition, Bach Society Violin competition, and a fellowship grant from the Aspen Music Festival.
