Baila Salsa Fridays features the best Salsa dancing in the city with a full live band, dancing and a DJ. Don't miss the chance to Explore and Discover Chicago's newest venue, Epiphany. 
 
Enrique started his own band in July 2016 and continues to perform throughout Chicago. He also started diving into his creative side and began writing and recording. In February of 2017, Enrique began working with Ricky Luis and Joe Mende (Afincao) on producing new original music. He recorded his first single "Mas Tiempo" which was released on September 4, 2017. As of November 2020, he has released 4 more singles with a total of 5 singles. He began working with Gerardo Rivas & Norberto Velez also know as NG2 recording 2 singles in Puerto Rico, Amarte Sin Descanos (5/2018) & No Te Contaron Mal feat NG2 (9/2019). He also recordered an acoustic version of Amarte Sin Descano. All 5 singles are available on all digital platforms. In 2019, Enrique was the opening act at the 2019 Chicago International Salsa Congress where he opened up for the world renowned Don Perignon y La Puertorriquena. He also opened up for International Salsa star La India. He has performed at summer festivals like Tacos & Tamales, Nuestra Fiesta, Puerto Rican Festival & Colombian Festival. He also performed at venues like Cubbybear, Joe's Live & Joe's on Weed St to name a few.

Angel Melendez:

Composer, arranger, instructor and trombonist. After witnessing a performance by his cousinCarlos Rexach with Orquesta “La Solucion”, Angel decided to pursue his musical career.

911 Mambo Orchestra plays original arrangements by Angel Melendez and the music of Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, Tito Rodriguez, Perez Prado and FANIA records.

Melendez has been featured at some of the following prestigious events including: U.S. Conference of Mayors Chicago 2005, 27th Annual Chicago Jazz Festival, Millenium Park Pritzker Pavilion Jazz Series featuring Danilo Perez, 17th Annual Viva! Chicago Latin Music Festival, The Taste of Chicago, Louisville Music Fest 07, PR Parade Chicago Festival 07, Old Town Folk & Roots Music Festival 2006, Chicago SummerDance, Chicago Salsa Festival 2007, Chicago International Salsa Congress in 2002 & 2004, Chicago’s Millennium Park Opening Ceremonies 2004, AARP Latino Community Celebration 2004 closing for MALO, AARP Latino Community Celebration 2005 opening for Lila Downs, White Sox Latin Music Night 2006 & 07, & MLB All-Star Pepsi Park 2003.

Angel Melendez has played at the most recognized Chicago venues like: The Chicago Symphony Center, Millenium Park’s Pritzker Pavillion, Grant Park’s Petrillo Music Shell, The Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago Museum of Science and Industry, Harris Theatre for Music & Dance, U.S. Cellular Field, The Park West, The House of Blues, & Chicago’s Field Museum among many others.

Angel has been a musical director and arranger for some of the world’s most renowned Salsa artists including Danilo Perez, Jimmy Bosch, Andy Montañez, Ismael Miranda, Luigi Texidor, Adalberto Santiago, Cheo Feliciano, The Singers of the Apollo Sound (Tito Cruz, Sammy Gonzalez & Papo Sanchez), Frankie Ruiz, Eddie Santiago, Lalo Rodriguez, Luisito Carrión, Hector Tricoche, Tito Allen & Johnny Rivera among others.

In 2004, Angel Melendez released his first full-length CD “Angel Melendez & The 911 Mambo Orchestra”, mixed and mastered by 16 Grammy award winner Jon Fausty, and produced by Andrés Meneses under the label Latin Street Music Inc. The recording has received immediate nationwide acceptance and it is currently playing in over 170 non-commercial, NPR, Jazz Week reporting and College Music Journal reporting radio stations. On Dec 7th, 2004 the debut CD was nominated to the 47th Annual GRAMMY Awards under the category of “Best Traditional Tropical” Latin Album. The CD also won the “Best Latin Album” Award in the 4th Annual Independent Music Awards 2005. In January of 2006 Mr. Angel Melendez was given the title of “Chicagoan of The Year” by Chicago Magazine together with the World Champions Chicago White Sox and a few others.
