About: 

Chicago native Denise La Grassa has been winning over audiences with her mix of original songwriting, soulful blues, & effervescent personality since she first hit the Chicago music scene. She has played Chicago’s prominent music venues, including Buddy Guys Legends, Shuba’s, and the Jazz Showcase. She has also appeared in New York City at The Knitting Factory, FEZ, H.E.R.E., Surf Reality & Collective Unconscious, as well as abroad in Germany, Switzerland, and Scotland.

This year, Denise has embarked on her most ambitious project yet: “North of 40” is a film that will document her desire to focus on music full-time with a return to her soul and blues roots and a stated mission of returning to Europe to tour with her new sound and new band. Concurrently, she’s working on an album titled “The Flame,” whose songs are inspired by her mother’s own audacious journey of immigrating from Scotland to America at age 20, then helping bring many other members of her immediate family to America as well.
