About Jon Shain:
Durham, North Carolina’s Jon Shain is a veteran singer-songwriter who’s been turning heads for years with his words and his fiery acoustic guitar work. Shain brings the Piedmont blues to the modern age by mixing the piedmont blues tradition that he learned firsthand from North Carolina blues legends Big Boy Henry and John Dee Holeman with bluegrass, swing and ragtime to form his own evolved music style. This unique style helped Shain win the 2019 International Blues Challenge in Memphis. In addition, Shain was a finalist in the 2009 International Blues Challenge, he won both the 2008 and 2018 Triangle Blues Society’s Blues Challenge and was the 2006 winner of NC’s Indy award for Best Folk Act.
Jon was also the producer of Donna Herula’s award winning 2021 acoustic blues album, “Bang at the Door” and played on several of the album’s tracks.
About Donna Herula Band:
“A truly gifted virtuoso of the resonator guitar who also possesses the most stunning of voices. Herula is a Chicago born Blues artist of the highest order who not only sings, plays slide but also is a more than accomplished composer.”
— Peter Merrett, PBS 106.7 FM, Melbourne, Australia
Donna Herula is a blues and Americana singer, songwriter, resonator slide guitarist, and Chicago Blues Hall of Fame inductee. Playing a variety of blues styles, her songwriting tips the hat to the tradition while creating a fresh, contemporary perspective on blues and roots music. Donna’s sound combines her love of music from the Deep South and her love of blues guitar improvisation.
Donna will be joined by her bandmates Marc Edelstein on upright bass, Tony Wittrock on guitar and mandolin and Kenny Smith on drums. https://donnaherula.com/about/
