About Jason Lee:

Korean-American Pianist JASON LEE is a rising junior at the University of Iowa pursuing a B.M. in Piano Performance under the tutelage of Dr. Réne Lecuona. Throughout his ongoing musical journey, Jason has had the privilege of performing and competing in many wonderful venues across North America. In his earlier years, he made his radio debut performing for the annual Schubertiade that was broadcast live on Chicago’s 98.7 WFMT. Jason also performed at Chicago’s Symphony Center as part of the Magical Strings of Youth’s annual spring concert, as well as performing at Carnegie Hall under the American Protege International Competition Series. As a high school student, Jason was the soloist with the DuPage Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Barbara Schubert performing the first movement of Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3. Jason has also performed for regional festivals with Dance of America, along with awards and honors at the ENKOR International, Great Composers International Competition, Chicago Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competition, North Shore, Chicago International Piano, GLORY International, and several other competitions, including being Iowa’s representative in piano for the MTNA Young Artist competition this past year. He also recently performed in the University of Iowa Celebrating Beethoven Concert Series, as well as 2 full solo recitals his freshman and sophomore year, respectively. Jason also studied and performed at the Interharmony International Music Festival in Italy last summer and has performed in masterclasses for artists such as Saleem Ashkar, Svetozar Ivanov, Marianna Prjevalskaya, and Steven Spooner.

Along with being an enthusiastic photographer, videographer, and sports fan, Jason is also an avid jazz and church pianist/keyboard player. His past teachers include Cheryl Lim, William Phemister, and Sueanne Metz, who along with family and friends have had an immense impact on his decision to pursue music as a career.
