Jazz Music Series: Markus Rutz Quintet Livestream

Trumpeter and composer Markus Rutz brings a melodious pen to his original compositions and plays with a tone that has been called gorgeous. For the October quintet performance at Epiphany Center for the Arts he leads the group along with Jarrard Harris in the horn section featuring the rhythm section of pianist Adrian Ruiz, bassist Samuel Peters and Joss Ross on drums.  The band is ready to present music representing standards, original music and tunes from an album that is scheduled for release in early 2023 on Chicago’s JMARQ Records.  The August prelude performance is duet featuring guitarist Matthew Elgazar.

Markus released two volumes of music with Blueprints on Origin Records in his last studio recording project along with Chicago contemporaries and guest saxophonist Brice Winston.  This project organically evolved into his most recent project as Composer-in-Residence for The Rose Theatre based out of Washington DC.  The collaboration features music arrangement and performances on monthly episodes of The Rose Rhapsody.   Keep in the loop with Markus for this performance and more about the music.
