About Jeremy Pelt:
Jeremy Pelt is one of the most well known trumpeters of the younger generation of jazz artists on the scene today. He has been voted a “Rising Star” in Downbeat Magazine for the past 5 years in a row and performs regularly with the Vanguard Jazz orchestra, the Duke Ellington Orchestra, the Roy Hargrove Big Band and the Cannonball Adderley Legacy Band featuring drummer Louis Hayes. In addition to multiple recordings as a sideman, Jeremy has 10 albums as a leader to his credit, has toured globally on several occasions and is currently touring throughout the United States and Europe in support of “Soundtrack”, his latest release. Jeremy’s band for the evening of 4/19/22 consists of members of UIC’s stellar jazz faculty including Andy Baker (trombone), Chris Madsen (tenor saxophone), Charles Heath (drums), Larry Kohut (bass), and Michael Stryker (piano). Dr. Michael Stryker leads the Jazz Program at the University of Illinois at Chicago. “We are so pleased to have Jeremy on campus for a 4-day residency from April 18 – April 21st that includes this performance in the Sanctuary at the Epiphany Center for the Arts on 4/19 as well as the UIC Jazz Festival (to be held at Epiphany on 4/20) with secondary schools and community college bands performing for judges comments and receiving educational clinics.
