Artist Statement
My round Artworks reflect the sentiment for I am totally engaged in it. The painting above is a portrait of a woman with an ill-stricken eye deciphering a mirror writing message of her master, Michelangelo. My other paintings, about my heritage, are profoundly narrative – customs & traditions are tellingly Filipino, hilarious, dramatic, and historical. My other paintings depict a subtle manifesto about events affecting my life. E.g. our agricultural lands worldwide are being exhausted, however pragmatic the reasons are. My “Sun, Land, City” painting series was based on this.

Born February 12, 1943, raised, & educated in Munoz, Nueva Ecija, Philippines.
BFA – college of Arch. & Fine Arts, University of Sto. Tomas, Manila, 1963; Taught: UE (Univ of the East), Ateneo; MFA – SAIC School of the Art Institute of Chicago, 1968; Taught: SFA (St Francis A- now JCA Joliet Catholic Academy, Valley View District 365, Romeoville/Bolingbrook, Il until retirement. Numerous Fine Arts Festivals, One-Man Shows, Washington, DC and group gallery shows.
