Elemental Impact takes interest in the parts that make up the whole, and how a single element can impact the world at large. Much like a single choice in material or form can change an entire piece, each of the sculptural works in this collective by 34 artists, change and impact the whole through their proximity.
Bold material choices and a unique presence are what unite the works in this exhibition. They balance the ability to stand on their own while also engaging with the work and environment around them in a way that fundamentally changes the experience of the space. Stories are woven through their proximal relationship, changing slightly each way you approach and move through the space; delighting in the ambiguity of what is fundamental, and what is interpreted.
This exhibition is curated by K.R. Fowler and is in partnership with Chicago Sculpture International.

K.R. Fowler is a multi-disciplinary artist and curator. With a focus in painting and narrative work, K. R.'s practice functions as an exploration of identity and the concept of self within the broader context of culture. Endlessly enamored with learning, Fowler’s work is informed by the ongoing research and study of religion, feminism, philosophy, history, and beyond. They have exhibited their work in Houston and Chicago and are a recipient of the 2021 Aiko Nakane fellowship and the 2022 Albert P. Weisman award.
K.R. recently served as the Assistant Director and then Interim Director of Art at Epiphany Center for the Arts. They have worked throughout the art world, wearing many hats as an administrator, curator, preparator, and art devotee. Previously, they worked with the Wabash Arts Corridor and the Department of Exhibition and Performance Spaces out of Columbia College Chicago, juried the 2022 Artistic Discovery Congressional Art Competition, and served as a site supervisor for the 2022 cohort of the RE-TOOL 21 program, among other roles.
