Event Details
Attend the closing reception for First Annual Chicago and Vicinity Riso Exhibition by Spudnik Press on Saturday, July 4th, from 2:00-5:00pm.
The Chicago and Vicinity Riso Biennial is a regional exhibition celebrating risograph printing as it is being made right now across the Midwest. The show brings together artists from Chicago and Illinois along with the surrounding states — Iowa, Missouri, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Indiana — working in a medium defined by experimentation, accessibility, and the particular beauty of ink on paper.
Risograph printing occupies a unique space — rooted in zine culture and independent publishing, but increasingly embraced by artists pushing at the edges of what the process can do. Its layered spot colors, soy-based inks, and analog unpredictability make it a medium that rewards curiosity and collaboration.
This biennial is both a survey and a celebration, and a cheeky nod to the Art Institute of Chicago's now defunct Chicago and Vicinity exhibition. This show is a chance to bring Midwest riso work into conversation with itself and honor a tradition of showing regional art, grounded in the independent, artist-driven print culture of the Midwest.
This exhibition is a part of a summer of midwest riso exhibitions organized by Spudnik Press. A sister exhibition, 1st Annual Chicago and Vicinity Riso Exhibition, is curated by Duncan MacKenzie, Ryan Peter Miller, and Christopher Sperandio. will be taking place at Spudnik Press: 1821 W Hubbard St, #302, Chicago, IL 60622 from June 26-August 14, 2026 ( opening June 26, 6-8pm)

Attend the closing reception for The Desert as Mirror by Sarah and Joseph Belknap on Saturday, July 4th, from 2:00-5:00pm.
How Close Can You Get to a Stranger is an ongoing, evolving photographic series featuring a selection of images from a larger body of more than 2,000 photographs taken by Piper between 2018 and 2024 across Paris, Étretat, Bordeaux, Arcachon, and Biarritz.
How Close Can You Get to a Stranger is a continuous exploration of Piper’s recurring subject of choice - the stranger. To him, this proximity to the subject is an extension of his fascination with scales of intimacy. Arranged along a progressing gradient of proximity, far away landscapes sequentially become detailed portraits. Piper invites the viewer to perceive themselves through the eyes of a stranger, as if meeting for the first time - suspending the moment of first recognition as a practice of releasing judgements and an affirmation of an eternal gaze.
“To my subjects, you were once a passerby in my life, yet now I look at you, so intently”

We went to the desert for the eclipse. If we squinted, we could pretend we were on Mars.
We hadn’t been out of the city for a while and saw the biggest sky - it made us feel so incredibly tiny. We slept outside and ate outside and hiked outside. We tried to look at every rock we passed. Everything was red and brown and felt so warm.
We brought our medium format film camera and photographed the landscape, something we both remember doing but hadn’t done together. The last time one of us intentionally shot the landscape was more than twenty years ago.
When we developed the film back at home, we could squint and pretend we had been to Mars.

Event Details
Attend the closing reception for After the Flood by Alex Stark on Saturday, July 4th, from 2:00-5:00pm.
After the Flood is a collection of works made both before and after a flood in the artist’s studio. Stark began making a new body of collages in which he began covering parts of his previous salvaged paintings. Collaging on Stark's former damaged works becomes an act of revival, highlighting the resilience and ability of the body to adapt. The figures are ornamented and adorned in a way that is expressive of the relationship to these divine forms. The collaged imagery is photographic, combining and recontextualizing images of food, animals, architecture and nature into Stark’s own narrative, based around the body. These unconventional figures in crowded scenes form a sensory relationship with the viewer.
As a disabled queer artist, Stark’s work contemplates his own body and the manifestation and idea of belonging in a place. Physicality is central to his work through play with different materials that integrate drawing, painting and collage with an emphasis on visible mark-making. A language and narrative is developed around figures’ natural and vulnerable state of nudity and their expressive poses that often relate to the spaces they occupy.

Event Details
Attend the opening reception for Trespasses by Angelo Dolojan on Saturday, July 4th, from 2:00-5:00pm.
Trespasses is a series of graphite drawings concerned with proximity and how bodies, histories, and interior lives intersect. The works examine moments when boundaries blur and strangers cross into one another’s emotional terrain.
The title suggests both entry and overreach. To trespass is to cross a threshold without certainty of permission. It is also to risk closeness. The drawings dwell in this unstable space: between invitation and intrusion, tenderness and exposure, connection and aftermath.
Rendered from memory, the images resist documentation. They are partial reconstructions; scenes filtered through time, shaped as much by distance as by recall. Memory becomes the primary material: unstable, selective, and charged. What remains visible is not chronology but atmosphere and the feeling of having briefly occupied a shared interior and then stepped away.
Installed within Epiphany Center for the Arts, a space that once functioned as a church, the exhibition quietly acknowledges the building’s earlier life. Religious spaces have long been places where private histories are spoken aloud and where boundaries between interior and exterior life briefly soften. In this setting, the drawings consider what it means to enter another person’s emotional terrain, and what remains after those moments of closeness pass.

Event Details
Attend the closing reception for This is All I Have Left to Give by Alberto Aguilar on July 4th from 2:00-5:00pm.
As humans we have access to an endless amount of ideas
Sometimes we do not believe that they are good enough
So they sit dormant or fade away in our subconscious
Making ideas into reality is a skill that one can develop
It’s not necessary for the idea to even be a good one
Sometimes it is just a step to generate other ideas
I find value in applying a self-imposed framework
Some see this as an infringement on freedom
I view it as a force to generate more ideas
Without limits we are moving in the dark
Initially I wasn't interested in this space
Visiting it I began to see its potential
Arranging things found here on site
Aside regulated party streamers
I brought this idea into being
This is all I have left to give
But more will come from it
What does it mean to you
Does it conjure any ideas
If it does do not let it go
Record, collect, make it
It will take you places
You cannot fully see

About:
"Sixty-Five 14" is an artistic movement piece that works to articulate the complex intertwining of time and identity, reflecting on the past, sharing the present, and being open to the possibilities of the future. It is an in-process performance of human struggle, celebration, and discovery. Caitlin and Najah work together to research psychological patterns that form between humans and our social settings. Utilizing vocabularies from both club and contemporary dance forms, “Sixty-Five 14” intentionally holds space to encourage safety, socialization, and camaraderie among viewers. It is curated to reflect and embrace the ever-changing nature of society and personality.
Najah Iman (she/they) and Caitlin Wonsowski (they/she) are a Chicago-based artistic duo. Their partnership began through their shared passion for improvisation, psychological research, and collaboration while pursuing their undergraduate degrees from Columbia College Chicago. They began creating “Sixty-Five 14” in the summer of 2024. Since its original showing at the 21c Museum Hotel in September of 2024, their work has been selected to be presented in several midwest festivals, such as RADFest, Emergence Festival, and Outlaw of the Arts, and they have been guest performers at NEIU. Their choreography develops from social dance culture in Chicago, and investigative improvisation with an emphasis on always remaining in process and finding comfort in adaptation. Their artistic goal is to challenge people to be critical of the social customs and ideologies we reinforce with systemic societal participation.
About Caitlin Wonsowski:
Caitlin Wonsowski (they/she) is a Chicago-based emerging dance maker and performer. Since achieving their Bachelor of Arts in Dance from Columbia College Chicago in 2024, they have been working as a freelance artist, doing improvisational performances, and working under choreographers such as Phillip Wood, kt williams, and Julia Antonick and Jonathan Meyer. They were selected to perform in pieces by Hanna DiLorenzo and Shota Miyoshi in New Dances 2025, and in The Seldoms performance of Superbloom POP! at the Chicago Botanical Gardens. Their choreography focuses on research based in psychology, movement, and sociology and their creative process emphasizes research, collaboration, and being in-process to facilitate space for expansion in pluralism and empathy.

About:
Brother Jacob is a proud Chicago native, blues artist, radio host, and cultural preservationist whose performances blend the soul of gospel with the electric grit of Chicago blues. Born and raised on the city’s South Side, he fell in love with the blues as a child listening to WVON-AM’s Pervis Spann “The Blues Man” in the midnight hours. That deep musical foundation sparked a lifelong calling that would evolve into a unique voice on stage, over the airwaves, and in the city’s cultural conversations.
He began his professional journey through the Blues in the Schools program, performing at the Chicago Blues Festival under the mentorship of Deitra Farr. Over the years, Brother Jacob has become a familiar face on the scene, not just as a guest vocalist or sit-in performer, but as a frontman building a body of work with his own band and his own voice.
His music carries a spiritual intensity, rooted in storytelling and tradition, and driven by a mission to connect, uplift, and preserve. Brother Jacob delivers blues with reverence and revival.

About:
the female orgasm gets talked about everywhere and understood almost nowhere. it shows up in movies, magazines, and group chats, but the actual science stays surprisingly murky. so this month we are bringing in an expert, a vulva puppet, and a room full of curious people to finally dig into it. why does the "orgasm gap" exist? what is actually happening in the body and brain? and how much of it is physical versus everything we were never taught?
leading the night is dr. rachel zar, a phd in clinical sexology and aasect-certified sex therapist who has spent years at northwestern medicine's center for sexual medicine helping people understand their own bodies. she brings real research and zero judgment to one of the most asked about and least explained topics out there.
here is how the night runs. dr. zar gives a 45 minute talk, no interruptions, just settle in and listen. then we break into small guided groups for 60 minutes of real conversation about what landed, what surprised you, and what you always wondered but never asked. we close with a dedicated q and a, so hold your questions until the end and bring your best ones.
come curious. leave knowing more than you did walking in.

About:
A Patch of Blues is an award-winning blues and soul band with members Fati Jones (vocals), Rebecca Egwuenu (lead guitar), Sam Jones (bass), & Stacy Norris (drums). The members have been playing together from a young age and developed a love for the blues, their city's heritage, and playing music together under the mentorship of some of Chicago's great blues men and women. Each member is an accomplished musician and vocalist in her own right and decided to come together to bring a unique sound and urban funky flair to their audiences. The band has performed throughout the Chicagoland area and the Midwest in major festivals including the Chicago Blues festival as well as in Memphis at the International Blues Challenge in 2023 & 2024. Having a majority of female instrumentalists for a Blues band makes A Patch of Blues special. Female vocalists have always been the standard push with blues bands, often brushing aside the spirit, virtuosity, and innovative sounds of women musicians in the genre. In the past, we had Memphis Minnie, Rosetta Sharpe, Beverly "Guitar" Watson, drummers such as Pauline Braddy setting the stage on fire! A Patch of Blues aims to bring that fire back with Rebecca Egwuenu on lead guitar & Stacy Norris on drums alongside its power vocalist Fati Jones! The band received a Chicago Music Award for Most Outstanding Band in 2024 and was nominated twice for an Intercontinental Music Award for instrumental excellence and soulful rendition of the Blues. Sam Jones joined the family in 2024 on bass. As a longtime friend and "Blues brother" for the ladies of the Patch, this was a natural fit for POB. They have performed at Buddy Guy's Legends and Rosa's Lounge, some of their own local favorites. A Patch of Blues strongly believes in the power of music to unite and heal. You can read more about the Patch at apatchofblues.com.

About:
Born in Michigan and raised on a steady diet of soul, disco, and classic Chicago house, Viridian has spent more than a decade in the Windy City refining his craft as a music producer, and DJ. His signature sound draws heavily from these roots, favoring slow-burning energy, hypnotic chords, and a sensual tension that evolves into an uplifting crescendo.
By weaving nostalgic disco samples with underground funk and modern basslines, Viridian creates an inclusive, positive space where the past and future of dance music meet. It’s a balanced sound—approachable to legacy purists and fresh ears alike—that radiates a deep-seated passion for the groove while reminding us exactly why we gather on the dancefloor in the first place. Attend the opening reception for The Jade by Laleh Motlagh on Sunday, July 19th, from 2:00-5:00 pm.
The Jade presents recent paintings by Laleh Motlagh, centering on a jade plant brought by her father from her hometown of Tabriz, Iran, in 2012. Over fourteen years of relocation across various Chicago homes and studios, Motlagh has nurtured this plant, developing an intimate, symbiotic bond with it. Since 2022, the jade has transitioned from a personal companion into one of the primary subjects of her visual practice.
Indigenous to South Africa but ubiquitous worldwide, the plant serves as a living metaphor for political displacement and global migration. Motlagh focuses intently on the plant's pot as a site of dual identity: it is both a protective shelter and a rigid constraint. Confined within this human-made structure, the jade adaptation mirrors the endurance of Iranian women navigating systemic restriction and control. Through daily and repetitive observation, The Jade maps the deep intimacy between human and botanical life, offering a quiet meditation on uprooting, survival, and the persistent will to grow within boundaries.

Attend the opening reception for Dog Kicking in its Sleep by Ethan Shay-Cowell on Sunday, July 19th from 2:00-5:00pm.
Dog Kicking in its Sleep is the first solo exhibition from Chicago based artist Ethan Shay-Cowell. His work combines observation with surrealist invention and symbolism to create dark, dream-like spaces that bridge the physical world with the ever-present allegory unfolding beneath it.
These works created between 2022 and 2026 were inspired by the artist's time spent living and studying in Chicago, as well as the increasing volatility of the global political theatre. The paintings are a response to uncertainty and conflict, both within and outside of the self, searching our stories and symbols for meaning that withstand this volatility. His practice personifies time and space as a parent and teacher in a way that blurs the line between art making and theistic reflection, seeking an intimacy that is only possible through confrontation.
The exhibition aims to create a moment in which the artist's works can together express a portrait of human nature in its juxtaposing elements as to be faithful to its complexity.

Attend the opening reception for Temple Toys by Max Li on Sunday, July 19th from 2:00-5:00pm.
Temple Toy brings together tintypes, calligraphy, photographs, writings, and sculptural objects developed through Max Li’s ongoing relationship with Chicago, sacred space, memory, and everyday life. Moving between improvisation and ritual, the exhibition treats objects as emotional devices, small monuments, jokes, relics, and temporary sites of attention. Ancient forms, toy-like materials, devotional gestures, and contemporary fragments coexist within a playful and open-ended landscape where sacredness appears not as certainty, but as a shifting human condition.

Attend the opening reception for Medley by LATITUDE on Sunday, July 19th from 2:00-5:00pm.
The following work on these walls is tied together by its construction rather than its completed form. What joins the work is not a shared theme in representation and style but a means of making, composed of statements that potentially have nothing in common at all - which is exactly the space LATITUDE was made to support.
This exhibition is a net cast into the vast field of individuals that together make up LATITUDE Chicago’s diverse community - some who do it themselves, some who have the team do it for them, some who have donated their time, and some who have donated their resources and connections. Artists that work in painting, photography, collage, analog or digital process .. artists whose practices are built on personal joy or political justice.
Regardless of the “why”, this collection is born from a mission that holds the door open and welcomes a type of multiplicity that can be difficult to access otherwise. A thread spun from the shared belief that access and education around photographic “Fine Art” production should come without barriers.
curated by Keanna Boyko, Deputy Director of LATITUDE Chicago

Attend the opening reception for Means of Production by LMRM on Sunday, July 19th from 2:00-5:00pm.
How should wealth be distributed, power structured, and labor organized when the focus is the shared experience of creating and consuming art?
If we could deepen our own practices as a consequence of supporting another’s would that change how we approach collaboration?
We can confront scarcity through generosity along novel dimensions: a loom is dressed and experimentation follows, a floating canvas with its incremental and iterative decorations across individuals form a chain; trust is essential for the call and response necessary for a community to thrive.
Fibers under tension, knowledge honed and shared, yield something coherent eventually.

Event Details
Attend the closing reception for SAIC Diploma Pickup! Reminder. by Benjamin Holmes on Sunday, September 20th from 3:00-6:00pm.
Hey folks, I submitted a new title and exhibition statement last night. I hope that the email-body-as-wall-text doesn't come across as (overly) facetious or oblique (it is meant to be a little bit facetious, of course (maybe funny?)). I found it very difficult to not treat a text which will be physically present in the space of the exhibition with the work as being diegetic/metafictional, so I reformulated the show concept a bit to accommodate the idea of having such a text in the space, and I think it could possibly even work well (the paintings/work I'm including could all be construed as taking on a certain self-congratulatory-ness or self-indulgence/post-MFA-ness explicitly as subject matter (I wouldn't say that the work is autobiographical, maybe tailored-autobiographical, or maybe rather that its subject matter is "autobiography" (but we could be splitting hairs here), or else “the conditions of production”, or else that: "Freedom is the obligation to freedom, since the rejection of freedom is an exercising of freedom."). Let me know if it is in fact too oblique/facetious, and I could try to find a way to squeeze a bit more exegeticity in there by later today, or else we could probably supplement/replace it with this email-body instead.
Thanks and sorry for being slow and a pain!

Hey folks, I submitted a new title and exhibition statement last night. About:
Keyon Harrold is a GRAMMY® nominated trumpeter, vocalist, composer, and producer whose music defies boundaries. A genre-fluid innovator, he blends jazz, hip-hop, R&B, blues, and cinematic soul into a signature sound that is both raw and refined—emotional and electrifying. With a career anchored in versatility and excellence, Harrold has emerged as one of the most compelling voices in modern music.
Harrold’s latest album, Foreverland (2024, Concord Jazz), follows the critically acclaimed The Mugician (2017, Sony Legacy), which redefined the trumpet’s role in contemporary music. As a platinum-selling producer and first-call collaborator, he has worked with legends and luminaries across genres—from Jay-Z, Common, and Nas to Maxwell, Black Pumas, Mac Miller, Keith Richards, YEBBA, Robert Glasper, Sam Henshaw and Destin Conrad. He also co-wrote the theme song for “The Queen Latifah Show.” In 2025, Harrold performed at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony honoring Outkast, Salt-N-Pepa and more!
Whether performing on global stages or composing for film and television, Harrold pours his soul into every note. “The only thing that defines a genre is its beat,” he says, a belief that fuels his fearless exploration of music’s emotional and cultural possibilities. His live shows—raw yet virtuosic, intimate yet expansive—have captivated audiences worldwide, including at the Love Supreme Festival, where critics praised his performance as “commanding” and “seeking new challenges.”
Beyond the stage, Harrold is a dedicated artistic advisor for Jazz St. Louis and the MATI (Music at the Intersection) Festival in his hometown of St. Louis, Missouri. A passionate advocate for social justice and equity, he uses his platform to inspire change and empower the next generation.
“The future of the trumpet.” – Downbeat Magazine

About:
Mere words cannot aptly describe the transformative experience of The Freddie Dixon Blues Band With A Touch of Class(ical). Close your eyes – imagine Blues being transformed into Classical, The Godfather of Blues, Willie Dixon’s sultry sound into Ludwig van Beethoven’s soothing symphonies. It happens, right before your eyes and ears, with The Freddie Dixon Blue Band. Beethoven’s 5th morphs into Dixon’s 29 Ways, without missing a beat. Those numbers add up to a unique musical experience unparalleled. This is more than just a Blues band with a violinist. It is musical mix of two genres – Classic Blues with a Classical groove. The band can play at events ranging from small acoustic performances to larger shows. Popular with multi-generational blues lovers as well as blues newcomers, you can’t keep still when listening to this inspirational soul-moving music.

About Frost Children:
For Angel and Lulu Prost, the sibling duo behind Frost Children, home has always sounded like dance music. The St. Louis-born musicians grew up steeped in the sleek catharsis of golden-age EDM: huddling over YouTube videos of 2010s festival staples like Zedd, Skrillex, and Krewella; watching rapt as Virtual Riot commanded a headline show at their neighborhood outdoor amphitheater; digging through their eldest brother’s dubstep collection. The duo’s third album SISTER, out September 12th via True Panther/Dirty Hit, is an exhilarating return to those first sounds that moved them, echoing with the reverence and refinement of two formidable artists crafting exactly what they want to hear. But it’s also a striking portrait of Frost Children’s singular creative partnership: as bandmates, as roommates, as symbiotic savants practicing the art of what Angel calls “twin telepathy.” Boldly revitalizing and revolutionizing a too-often- devalued subgenre, Frost Children have delivered their most forthright and full-bodied identity statement yet. As Lulu puts it: "This is so confidently what we love, and what we breathe.”
Melding the sensitivity and songcraft of Hearth Room with the propulsive power of SPEED RUN, SISTER puts forward an arrestingly personal vision for modern dance music that transcends nostalgia and trend-chasing. Delicately weaving strains of emo, electro, and pure pop, Frost Children explore close-to-home themes of co-dependence, consistency, and change, exemplified by the roaring refrain on lead single “CONTROL”: “Tell me the way to live / I’m falling apart.” For all the uncertainty of thrilling anthems, SISTER pulses with the electric energy of two artists confidently reveling in their element.
About Ninajirachi:
Ninajirachi is raising the flag for a new generation of Australian artists on the international stage. From festival appearances at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Laneway, and Spilt Milk to sold-out headline shows on both sides of the Pacific, she has quickly become one of electronic music’s most electrifying new voices. With a sound and style “simultaneously garnering respect from the experimental underground and the mainstream” (Rolling Stone), Nina has been tapped by Nike, Sega, and even Ableton, who selected her to produce the official demo project for Ableton Live.
Nina’s evolution is best captured in the transformation of her childhood inspirations into career allies. Artists such as Charli XCX, Porter Robinson, and Cashmere Cat have gone from influences to touring partners, while Skrillex and SOPHIE have become recurring points of comparison - with Billboard declaring Ninajirachi “the female equivalent of Scary Monsters-era Skrillex.”
Raised on Australia’s Central Coast, Nina remains rooted in curiosity and experimentalism, continually spotlighting emerging artists from the furthest corners of the internet through her DJ sets, collaborations, and her annual headline event, Dark Crystal. Launched in 2022, Dark Crystal is Nina’s dream festival, brought to life - a showcase for unique and developing artists across diverse genres and niches. With the 2025 edition selling out months in advance, Dark Crystal has become a touchstone of Australia’s electronic underground community

About Basement Collective:
Basement Collective is a progressive-fusion group of instrumentalists with the goal of expressing wild creativity and pushing the boundaries of their musical knowledge. Their compositions are unique blends of jazz, classical theory, prog-rock, and metal, resulting in sonically diverse and richly dynamic musical expression.
About Adela's:
With simple arrangements and warm honesty, Adela fuses elements of classical, folk and pop music to create a unique, multi-dimensional sound. About Semi-Cycle:
Semi-Cycle is the primordial sonic template from which Kristofer Hansen creates and proliferates music. Driven by dance music, soul, ambience and loop based architecture, Semi-Cycle is not tied to one genre but rather is connected to an essence of passion and entranced euphoria. Taking a variety of forms as a solo act to a full band and everything in between, Semi-Cycle incorporates written music with experimental improvisations to create a one-of-a-kind yet recognizable sound every time.

About Rogue Fashion Show:
Rogue is the third official fashion experience presented by Raeted R Creative Co., building on the foundation of Planet R and the evolution of Retrograde. This next chapter moves beyond reflection and into rebellion. Challenging convention, disrupting norms, and redefining the boundaries of fashion as both art and resistance. Rooted in punk energy, digital futurism, and unapologetic individuality, Rogue invites attendees into a space where identity is self-defined, and creativity exists without permission.
Curated by Raven Smith, Founder of Raeted R Creative Co. and the community-driven brand Straight From The Go, the show reflects her continued commitment to storytelling, cultural impact, and creating platforms that center emerging voices. As a multidisciplinary creative, Raven uses each experience to build immersive environments where fashion becomes a language. One that speaks to freedom, transformation, and the power of going against the grain.
More than a runway show, Rogue is a statement. It is a curated moment that brings together designers, artists, and creatives who exist outside of traditional systems. Those who challenge expectations and create from a place of authenticity and disruption. Through bold design, immersive energy, and a fearless approach to expression, Rogue captures fashion in its most unfiltered form: raw, evolving, and entirely its own.

About:
Afro Dead is a musical collective formed in 2022 by Aaron Feder to reimagine the music of the Grateful Dead in Afro-Pop styles, such as soukous, Afrobeat, high-life, reggae and more. He has been able to use his experience as founder and band leader of Alma Afrobeat Ensemble (four albums, four US tours) and co-founder of the record label Slow Walk Music (home to African music made in Spain) resulting in a Summer 2024 tour of the US and Canada, and a Fall 2024 tour of Spain.
For 2026 the band will feature the amazing singer London Kay, most known for touring with Heart and the internationally touring Grateful Dead act Terrapin Flyer.
Aaron Feder has been a lifelong participant in the Grateful Dead’s music scene, having played and recorded with Grammy award winners Peter Rowan and Eric Krasno, as well as members of Phil Lesh and Friends, Greensky Bluegrass, Leftover Salmon, Everyone Orchestra and much more. Aaron’s varied musical experiences has helped create a vibrant, one-of-a-kind musical project, mixing classic Americana compositions with danceable African grooves and a healthy dose of improvisation.
The band’s version of Dark Star was featured on the compilation “The Music Plays the Band” alongside Dark Star Orchestra, Oteil Burbridge, ALO and many more.
Josh Olken (Terrapin Flyer) who has recently played with Al Dimeola and Derek Trucks, will be joining Afro Dead for this special show. Aaron and Josh have played many shows together, and bring an even more special flavor to this concert, combining their two unique interpretations of Jerry Garcia's six string legacy into a version of the Dead's songs you never expected!

About:
Casey describes herself as a sensitive river girlie, country-folk musician, and storyteller. She grew up in Illinois, and has found a home in Westerly, RI. "You'll Be Okay" and "Casey's Song" are streaming on Spotify and Apple music. Her full catalog of music so far is available on Bandcamp. She is currently working on her debut album inspired by her obsession with all things water, love and the little irksome, yet nostalgic, things in life, called qualms. Her old time and effortless vocals captivate audiences, tackling heartbreak and nostalgia with an americana sound.
Casey plays and sings with several groups in Westerly, RI, including a house band at High Hope Tavern that plays Sunday nights. She also is in a duo-project with her partner, Shane Patrick. Inspired by the music of Melanie, Janis Joplin, and Alanis Morissette, she brings her own voice to the songs she loves to perform.
Rivers has opened up for major acts including Hayley Jane, Ryan Montbleau, and Will Evans at the Snow Moon Festival; her song “You’ll Be Okay” recently made it to the top 15 out of 845 applications for the Levitate Festival Songwriter’s Showcase. She’s performed at events and benefits for the Blackstone River, the Wequetequock Cove Clean Water Coalition, and several Earth Day celebrations.

About:
Sally Marian Rubin’s viral short film Zoomies comes to Epiphany Center for the Arts for a special screening accompanied by a live performance of its original score led by Susie McCollum.
Already known for its intimacy and emotional honesty, Zoomies takes on new dimensions as music moves from soundtrack to stage. Performed live alongside the film, McCollum’s score deepens the landscape of the film, creating an immersive experience where digital and live art become one. There will be a Q&A with Rubin and McCollum following the performance.
Join us for this unique screening and celebration of independent film, original music, and the power of shared experience.
About Susie McCollum:
Susie McCollum is a singer-songwriter who proudly walks a soulful, indie-folk line. One listen to any of her songs and you’ll hear the confessional power of Joni Mitchell, the lyrical prowess of Janis Ian, and the coy, jazzy-toned spirit of Norah Jones.
New York City-born & Chicago-based, McCollum’s musical journey spans opera, theater, jazz, R&B, & folk - providing an eclectic background that informs her textured, authentic sound. Her mesmerizing and poetic lyricism is fueled by compassion, wit, and an insatiable curiosity about the human experience.
Susie arrived on the scene with the celebrated single “New Year’s Eve” in 2022, praised by A&R Factory as a “part-love song, part-indie-soulful ode to bittersweet tradition.”
Her 2024 debut EP Tempt My Fate captivated audiences as “stirring and uniquely powerful” (CLOUT Magazine) for its soulful vocal and poignant songwriting.
So far, 2026 has brought SOLD OUT shows at the Mercury Lounge (NYC) & Epiphany Center for the Arts (Chicago), as well as her first scoring experience for the short film “zoomies” (71K views on Youtube).
In addition to her production credits, which extend into the theater, Susie has also honed her skills as an audio engineer - enabling her to truly inhabit every layer of the creative process. Her latest single “Abigail” is her best work yet.
