About Jorge Luis Pacheco:
Jorge Luis Pacheco is widely regarded as one of the finest pianists and musicians to emerge from Cuba’s new generation of jazz artists. Combining breathtaking virtuosity, explosive energy, and remarkable artistic versatility, he has become a leading force in contemporary Cuban jazz. Beyond his extraordinary abilities as a pianist and composer, Pacheco is also a singer whose sensitive and captivating voice brings an added depth and emotional richness to his performances. His dynamic stage presence, innovative musical vision, and ability to connect with audiences through both his piano playing and singing have earned him international acclaim, establishing him as one of the most compelling voices in jazz today.
Winner of two awards at the 2014 Montreux Jazz Piano Solo Competition, presided over by Quincy Jones, Pacheco blends Afro-Cuban rhythms, modern jazz, classical music, and contemporary soul into a singular, expressive voice.
A native of Havana, Cuba, Pacheco sold out his solo piano debut at Lincoln Center in 2015 and has since performed at iconic venues including the Apollo Theater, Kennedy Center, Dizzy’s Jazz at Lincoln Center, Ronnie Scott ‘s in London, Blue Note, Napa and the Berlin Philharmonic. His global festival appearances span SFJazz, Blue Note Jazz Festival, Monterrey Jazz Festival, New Orleans Jazz Fest, San Jose Jazz Festival, Sziget Festival (Hungary), JazzKaar (Estonia), and the Red Sea Jazz Festival (Israel); among many others.
Pacheco’s collaborations include Wynton Marsalis and the JLCO, Arturo O’Farrill, Lenny White, Dave Weckl, Richie Goods, Michael League and Snarky Puppy, saxophonist Bill Evans, and Cuban legends such as Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Leo Brouwer, Pablo Milanés, and members of the Buena Vista Social Club. He has also taught and performed at Berklee College of Music. As a composer, Pacheco premiered The Love Symphony—a jazz quartet and symphonic orchestra fusion at Cuba’s National Theater in 2018.
He holds a master’s degree in composition from Instituto Superior de Arte de La Habana and has won multiple awards, including Cuba’s JoJazz Festival and the “Made in New York” Jazz Competition for his original piece “Con El Pache Me Voy.”
With more than seven albums to his credit—including The Lockdown Album, Con El Pache Me Voy, and his vocal debut Mi Otro Yo—Pacheco continues to push into new musical territory. His latest release, Live from Havana (January 2026), was recorded during the 2025 Havana Jazz Festival with an all‑star Cuban ensemble. His upcoming studio album, set for release in Spring 2027, further expands his signature fusion of jazz traditions, showcasing a sound that is unmistakably his own.
