My mother and I once talked about how we believe that she is ‘charmed’, and as my brother and I are extensions of her, we are as well. This piece acts not only as a love letter to my mother, but also to the ancestors who put their prayers onto us, giving us the luck and charm we possess today. As I ask myself how I stay ‘afloat’ during troubling times, I think back to my mother, who taught me that things always work out in the end; survival is the fruit of labor.
