Alison McKenzie is an artist and designer living in Chicago. She works as a designer, crafter and illustrator at Paper Source, where she designs die-cut paper craft kits and creates illustrations for products such as calendars, planners, cards and wrapping paper. She became inspired recently to take her passion for paper to an illustrative level in her personal art. She loves the tactile, playful and graphic sense it lends to a piece and the saturated color quality that it provides. Her cut paper essay writing service pieces begin as pencil illustrations and are then translated into finished pieces utilizing traditional, digital and mechanical methods. McKenzie’s work explores personal emotion and feminist themes with a sense of humor and whimsy, using a vibrant color palette. She is interested in exploring the intersection of what is traditionally feminine in color, material, and theme with what can be seen as aggressive, weird, surreal or “unladylike”. McKenzie received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2006.
