Through a vast survey of artwork that spans David Lee Csicsko’s 35+ year career and explores his personal growth as an internationally renowned artist and designer, Mr. Fancy Pants features images from his recent series of books, LGBTQ+ ICONS, FASHION ICONS, and new works of iconic artists. Also included in the exhibition are Csicsko's posters for the City of Chicago, The Legacy Project, his Gay Games logo designs, selections from his famed Saints in the Garden series and designs for Chicago's LQBTQ+ service organizations. Csicsko’s playful, distinctive style and use of bold colors reflect his passion for being a visual participant in the cultural world that we live in.

David Lee Csicsko grew up in Hammond Indiana and attended the Cleveland Institute of Art, graduating with a BFA in 1980. His work includes fine art, editorial illustration, corporate design and large-scale public artworks, including mosaics for the Belmont 'L' station, stained glass windows for the chapel at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital, and he was the designer of the Christmas decorations for the 2012 Obama White House.
David’s design projects include posters for the City of Chicago, Art Institute of Chicago, Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and WFMT Fine Art Radio. His book projects include illustrating the children's THE SKIN YOU LIVE IN, now in its eighteenth printing, Behind the Lions for the Art Institute of Chicago, and a series of books including LGBTQ+ ICONS, SCIENCE PEOPLE, ICONIC COMPOSERS, and FASHION ICONS. He is currently working on his next book, ICONIC ARTISTS for TROPE Publishing.
David has a 30-year history working with Chicago's LGBTQ+ community as a designer and volunteer and in 2016, he was inducted into the Chicago LGBT Hall of Fame. He has had exhibitions of his work at the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Loyola Museum of Art (LUMA), among others. David also creates commissioned family portraits, a project that started with his work for the Obama White House.
