About George Tonyi

George Tonyi is a Nigerian contemporary visual artist, born in Lagos, Nigeria. In 2003, Tonyi graduated from Yaba College of Technology, Yaba Lagos, Nigeria, with a focus in Visual Art. He is a member of the Lagos Chapter of the Society of Nigerian Artists. He has exhibited in the United States and internationally. Tonyi’s creative practice includes printmaking, graphic design, etchings, engraving and painting. His abstract designs are deeply influenced by a rich tapestry of global traditions and cultural expressions, reflected in a diverse array of forms, motifs, symbols, and colors.
