ARTIST STATEMENT:
Hoy! : Tales of an unapologetic queer and neurodivergent Filipino-American is a graphic memoir about Marissa’s interpersonal identities and how they interact in the outside world, especially when it comes to family, traditions and legacies. Not only understand but also laugh along with Marissa as she retells some silly and not so silly stories.


ARTIST BIO:

Marissa Domantay is a queer Filipino American illustrator, visual development artist, and online content creator. She graduated in 2020 with a BA in Art (and minor in mathematics). She received multiple awards for her leadership and artistic practice such as the Posse Scholarship, Vanguard Award for Equity and Inclusion, and the Anique Ashraf prize. Currently, Marissa continues to pursue her passion in storytelling and art making. In the summer of 2020, she was part of the DeclarASIAN Artists Initiative​. Currently, she is part of Asian in Animation, Sinag and the Filipino Artist Directory. ​

Marissa currently is working in the editorial end of Children’s Publishing and freelancing.
