By taking inspiration from Renaissance portraiture, Reflections of Girlhood acts as a memorial of who I once was. I do not intend to mourn my past life but instead celebrate the joys of black girlhood. The use of vibrant pinks, shiny fabrics, and acrylic gems represents textures and items that I and many others may have been attracted to during their early years.
