This photo of a plant aligned with the moon reflects a moment of distant connection. I’m interested in photography’s ability to bridge distance and create the illusion of touch and closeness—especially when the subject is something we can never physically reach or encounter, yet feel deeply drawn toward. As my dad and I traveled around New Mexico where my grandfather, Arutruo, was born, I found myself contemplating a single thought—how my grandfather’s actions have spoken louder than his words. I couldn’t help but wonder: is there reconciliation in death? Can we ever truly resolve the silence left by those who have passed, or do we find a different kind of understanding in their absence, through their legacy, and through the spaces they once passed?
