Selena is a lifelong resident of Oak Park with an extensive background in early childhood education. Selena prefers creating works of art with colored pencils and paint, but has used other mediums in the past.
Selena would not have discovered her true passion for art if not for teaching young children. After introducing art projects in the classroom, the excitement in young children’s eyes as they worked sparked something deeper within Selena. She recognized the importance of art’s ability to transcend anything that may divide us.
Since then, Selena began taking classes at the Oak Park Art League to hone her craft. Her art has been displayed in several locations throughout the community, including the Oak Park Conservatory, the Oak Park Library, the Oak Park Housing Center, Prairie Bread Kitchen, Buzz Café, Serenity Tea House and Thrive. Selena is especially thankful to her parents for always encouraging her love of art. She would like the chance to share her personal mission statement with others:
“It is important to remember that there are great abilities within each individual, regardless of their disabilities.”
Enjoy the art by Selena.
