Jennie Oh Brown Joins Epiphany Center for the Arts as New
Artist-in-Residence, Artistic Director of Music Programming and Education
CHICAGO (February 23, 2022) – Epiphany Center for the Arts today announced it has named entrepreneurial concert flutist Jennie Oh Brown its new artist-in-residence, and artistic director of music programming and education. Brown will be responsible for curating Epiphany’s Acoustic Music Series, as well as developing ongoing educational programming throughout the landmark venue’s performing arts spaces.
“As the executive and artistic director of Chicago’s Ear Taxi Festival, a celebration of 21st century music in Chicago, I had the pleasure of working with the extremely professional and courteous team at Epiphany Center for the Arts for the past two years,” said Brown. “Throughout our day of programming on site, I constantly saw audiences and performers marveling over the beauty of the surroundings – there is nowhere else like it in the Chicago area. To be able to join Epiphany now as part of the leadership team is incredibly exciting.”
In addition to her work with Ear Taxi Festival, Brown also serves as executive and artistic director of the chamber ensemble Picosa. She is an active performer throughout Chicago in solo, chamber, contemporary and orchestral settings. She has appeared numerous times on WFMT radio and previously performed with elite ensembles including the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the Lyric Opera Orchestra of Chicago, and Chicago Opera Theater. Brown’s second solo album, “Giantess” (Innova), was named to Chicago Tribune music critic Howard Reich’s list of Best Classical Albums of 2019. Brown also serves on the board of Chamber Music America, teaches at Wheaton College and Elmhurst University, and is the founder, director and faculty member of Credo Flute. As artist-in-residence, she will continue to perform at Epiphany live in concert and in recordings as both a soloist and member of Picosa.
