About:
La Mar de Bien-A Flamenco Jazz Collective, translates to “A Sea of Goodness” which invokes a feeling of warmth, joy and positive energy, which reflects the spirit of the music and visual experience we create together. The collective is truly an International Ensemble, bringing together musicians from Spain, Japan, Venezuela, and the United States. The Collective features Martin Metzger on flamenco guitar, Rie Katayama on flamenco dance, Marfil Keller Alemán on flamenco voice and flamenco dance, Remi Kimura on latin percussion, Hana Fujisaki on piano, and Freddy Quintero on latin bass. The members have dedicated countless trips to Spain to preserve and bring back the art form’s virtuosity, passion, and spirit. Their performance is a visual and auditory delight, showcasing dynamic interplay that makes flamenco truly an international art form. In addition to traditional Flamenco Palos, the trio explores music that draws from a wide range of traditions, including Brazilian jazz, Afro-Cuban jazz, and Flamenco-jazz; a touch of Japanese aesthetics, standards and original compositions.
