About:

Thor Bremer's Chakras is an original immersive sound, music, and meditative experience combining guided meditation, live sound baths, and chamber music performed by a seven-member ensemble. Presented in the round, the continuous program moves through seven chakra-inspired sequences, surrounding the audience with acoustic instruments, sound healing instruments, voice and immersive soundscapes

About Thor Bremer:

Thor Bremer is a Chicago-area composer, sound designer, percussionist, producer, educator, and meditation teacher whose work moves between contemporary chamber music, immersive performance, and interactive media. Over the course of his professional career, he has created music and sound for more than 200 games and advertising projects, collaborating with studios and production teams around the world. His work has appeared in advertising for Disney and Intelliloan and in projects involving Output and Spitfire Audio. He also co-manages Fretless Music, through which he has performed and produced music for arts organizations, festivals, corporations, and private events throughout Chicagoland.

As director of Nine Worlds Ensemble, Thor composes, performs, produces, and engineers chamber-music projects and multidisciplinary collaborations. His background as a percussionist and drummer is central to his musical language: rhythm, resonance, physical gesture, and the changing color of acoustic sound are treated as structural elements rather than decoration. That approach carries into his work on marimba, piano, gongs, singing bowls, chimes, and other resonant instruments.

Chakras brings these parts of his practice together in a single large-scale project. Developed as an interdisciplinary album and live experience, the work integrates guided meditation, sound baths, and original chamber music into seven connected sequences. Each section is inspired by one of the traditional chakras free of any specific system. Instead, the project uses the chakra framework as a path through different physical, emotional, and attentional qualities. This live version expands the recorded work through a seven-member ensemble, acoustic resonance, spatial arrangement, and the shared experience of listening in a room.

Thor completed the Bodhiyana Nondual Teacher Training and brings his meditation teaching into the performance directly, guiding the audience without separating the contemplative practice from the musical event. He also teaches game audio at Columbia College Chicago and composition at the University of Illinois Chicago, emphasizing attentive listening, experimentation, collaboration, and practical creative craft.

At Epiphany Center for the Arts, Thor leads the ensemble from the marimba, percussion, voice, and electronics. Presented in the round, Chakras invites the audience to encounter chamber music, meditation, and sound bath not as three separate activities, but as one continuous immersive experience.
