About:

Experience an evening where jazz meets legend, ritual, and rhythm: Ana Everling and Grażyna Auguścik present a concert rooted in late fall and early winter traditions - songs of harvest, legends, and whispered tales - reimagined with expansive imagination. This project brings together Chicago’s best jazz minds, to support vocal leadership and unusual rhythmic architecture. Expect odd and shifting meters, polyrhythmic grooves, moments of quiet chant, and vibrant improvisation. We move this music forward by staging it big - in concert halls, under lights, with arrangement and energy that honors its past and demands attention in the present.

Ana Everling (Republic of Moldova/Chicago)
Ana Everling is a vocalist and storyteller whose artistry bridges the rich traditions of Romanian folklore with bold originality and a love for improvisation. Drawing inspiration from her roots, she creates music that is entirely her own - an innovative fusion of ancestral echoes and contemporary expression. Since 2019, Ana has researched and reimagined traditional songs from Moldova, culminating in a 2024 vinyl release featuring authentic folklore and Soviet-era repertoire.
Everling's dedication to preserving and reinventing traditional song is exemplified in her advocacy for the Doina - a freeform, deeply expressive genre at risk of fading into obscurity. In recognition of her cultural impact, Ana was awarded the title of Artist Emerit by the President of her country.

Grażyna Auguścik (Poland/Chicago)
Grażyna Auguścik is a Polish-born jazz vocalist, composer, arranger, and producer whose career spans more than four decades. Born in Słupsk, she studied classical guitar and later graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston (1992). Her work is celebrated for fusing Polish folk, Latin American rhythms, klezmer, and Eastern European tradition into jazz forms that transcend genre boundaries. She has recorded 17+ solo albums (many on her own label, GMA Records), appeared as a guest on numerous international projects, and has shared the stage with legends like Michael & Randy Brecker, Jim Hall, John Medeski, Paul Wertico, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Michal Urbaniak, Urszula Dudziak.
Awards and recognition include multiple Best Jazz Vocalist honors from Jazz Forum Magazine (2002, 2003, 2004, 2006), a Top Vocalist accolade at the Fujitsu-Concord Jazz Festival, the Silver Medal “Gloria Artis” from the Polish Ministry of Culture, and major applause for performances like Chopin World Sound at Millennium Park (Chicago).
