Composer, producer, and trombone specialist Brendan Whalen (aka bw3) prides himself on being genreless. The 28 year old Chicago transplant sees and hears things differently and refuses to let his music fit into a box. After moving to the city to study music in 2015, Whalen became frustrated by the boundaries of traditional music practices, and quickly began to develop a unique style of his own. Whether it’s hard hitting instrumental hip hop, abrasive free jazz, or something in between, Whalen combines electric trombone, original recording samples, and group improvisation to create a unique sonic experience for all.
