About Diego Rodriguez Big Band:
The Diego Rodriguez Big Band (DRBB) is a 19-piece contemporary jazz ensemble that debuted in Chicago in December 2022. Led by drummer Diego Rodriguez, the DRBB honors the legacy of Black American Music with a repertoire that includes Post-Bop, R&B, and Latin influences. Featuring original compositions and unique arrangements, the ensemble brings a fresh, dynamic sound to the Chicago jazz scene. This close-knit band of young talent shares a deep connection that resonates in their performances.
Since their debut, the DRBB has performed at notable venues and festivals across the Chicagoland area, including Andy’s Jazz Club, Fulton Street Collective, and the St. Charles Jazz Weekend. They have also worked with renowned musicians such as Marques Carroll, Kellin Hanas, Abigail Riccards, Jeremy Kahn, and Tom Garling.
The band is currently preparing to release their debut album. In addition, they remain committed to inspiring young musicians through outreach performances at schools. They are excited to return to Epiphany Center for the Arts for another unforgettable evening of music.
About Steve Wilson:
Steve Wilson has attained ubiquitous status in the studio and on the stage with the greatest names in jazz. A bandleader in his own right, Jazz Times calls him “the consummate saxophonist-composer and “one of the finest alto and soprano saxophonists of our time.” A musician’s musician, Wilson has brought his distinctive sound to more than 175 recordings led by such celebrated and wide-ranging artists as Chick Corea, Christian McBride, George Duke, Michael Brecker, Dave Holland, Dianne Reeves, Bill Bruford, Gerald Wilson, Maria Schneider, Joe Henderson, Charlie Byrd, Billy Childs, Karrin Allyson, Don Byron, Bill Stewart, James Williams, and Mulgrew Miller among many others. Wilson has nine recordings under his own name, leading and collaborating with a list of who’s who in jazz.
