About:
Richiman and Groove Nice are an American-style blues band from Seoul, South
Korea, bringing the heart and soul of traditional blues to audiences around the
world. Originally formed in 2018 as The Richiman Trio, the band represented the
Korea Blues Society at the 2019 International Blues Challenge (IBC) in Memphis,
Tennessee. While performing there, frontman Richiman experienced the power
of authentic American blues firsthand and knew it was his life’s calling.
“We are a blues band from South Korea that wants to play the American style of
blues. We grew up in Korea but fell in love with American blues.”
In 2021, the band evolved into Richiman and Groove Nice, replacing their bassist
and developing a fresh, groove-oriented sound designed to get audiences
moving. They returned to the IBC in 2022, where they made history as the first
Korean blues band ever to reach the Top 5 Finals, standing out among hundreds
of performers from around the world.
Their dynamic performances and authentic style have earned them opportunities
to share the stage with blues legend Buddy Guy and several other major blues
artists during their shows in Chicago and across the United States—a testament
to their growing reputation in the international blues community.
Richiman and Groove Nice released an EP titled “Memphis Special: One Take
Live,” a raw and powerful recording of their IBC finals set. They are currently
working on their debut full-length album, recorded at the iconic Royal Recording
Studio in Memphis, where Al Green and countless soul greats crafted their
timeless hits.
Engaging, masterful, and full of funk and soul, Richiman and Groove Nice deliver
performances that move both the heart and the feet. Witness them once, and
they’re sure to become your new favorite blues band—leaving every audience
transformed and uplifted by the universal power of the blues
