About PIWA:
PIWA is an afro alternative artist here to make you move to the beat of her drum without fail when it comes to the rhythm and world she takes us with through her music; with her deep tones, clever wordplay, and undeniable stage presence, She stands as a Zimbo [ Zimbabwean ] rockstar to the core! From Zimbabwe, to the Bronx, to Dallas, and now Chicago, Piwa has paid homage to all the homes she has known while creating her own authentic flow that caters to the tales left to tell. She also pulls inspiration from artists such as 070 Shake, Doja Cat, Lauryn Hill, Andre 3000, Kanye and many more that have shown her the path through genre bending within the music scene.
ROTTEN is the second EP to be released by PIWA coming to listeners this spring, May 1st . This sonic experience is a 6-track EP that captures moments of stillness- “ these are times when I felt like I was breaking and witnessing it through a TV screen. Rotting is knowing you can conquer the world, but you sit and continue to sit. Within stillness, there is chaos in the mind; But through this, we learn that stillness isn’t emptiness; it’s a space where growth quietly takes root.” This project embraces the beauty that can emerge from life’s darkest, most stagnant moments, proving that even in decay, something new is always being born; anger based in fear is not a curse, it’s a hitlist waiting to be made.
Join us at The Epiphany center April 10 for an unforgettable night to catch the first live experience of PIWA’s new project ROTTEN accompanied by a live band and special guest performances.
