About:

The Second Shift is a Chicago Fashion Week showcase, hosted by Beauty in Balance and the Chicago Fashion Coalition, celebrating South Asian multi-hyphenate artists who pursue their creativity after hours. For many, the "first shift" is the 9–5 career that sustains them, while the "second shift" is where their artistry truly comes alive—through dance, singing, literature, and more. This event explores that duality, pairing South Asian design with diverse art forms to honor the balance between profession and passion. By spotlighting these stories, The Second Shift highlights how tradition and innovation thrive when artists are free to explore all sides of their identity.
