About: 

The Composer Discovery Project is a unique and innovative presentation of the creativity of young students, paired with a feature presentation of the work of an established composer. Each year, students of pianist Amy Wurtz explore the music of a selected composer in depth.  The 2025 Composer Discovery Recital will feature the music of Chicago composer Florence B. Price, who in recent years is finally getting her well-deserved acclaim .  Each student performs works by Price, and speaks about aspects of her music, her background, and her artistic vision.  Price's works are performed alongside original compositions written by the students themselves, as well as works written by Ms. Wurtz specifically for her students.  This multimedia presentation shines a light on future musicians as it simultaneously connects them to their historic role models.
