About:

Creativity )beats( Negativity is an evening dedicated to celebrating creativity as a vital antidote to negativity. While negativity can be a powerful force that pushes our lives into dark spaces, creativity serves as the light that restores us to joy, art, and community. We seek to honor this transformative power through the shared language of music.

We come together to collaborate and perform with this core concept in mind. Our roster features a mix of established icons and upcoming local luminaries:

Frank Orrall (a.k.a. The Dandy, Chef Frank), legendary Chicago rockstar, and touring member of Thievery Corporation. Genre-bending Composer/singer/guitarist Christian Larumbe. Gustavo Cortiñas, acclaimed Mexican drummer/composer and the Chicago Tribune's 2025 Jazz Chicagoan of the Year. La Paula Herrera, incredible Chilean singer-songwriter and 2013 Viña del Mar Festival winner for best Folk song. Multi-genre composer and bassist Kitt Lyles, Sophia de Leon, multi-instrumentalist/dancer, the unassumingly powerful sound of Emily Kuhn composer/trumpet, The outstanding harmonies of pianist/vocalist Meghan Stagl, the indomitable creative spirit of singer-songwriter/activist Rosalba Valdez.
